All pets must have their core vaccinations up to date. The Client must provide valid veterinary documentation (vaccination certificate or health record booklet) at or before the Meet & Greet. C&A Pet House Sitting reserves the right to decline or suspend service if vaccination status cannot be verified.

7.2 Health and Behaviour Disclosure

The Client is solely responsible for providing complete and truthful information about their pet(s), including any medical condition, behavioural trait, anxiety, phobia, allergy, dietary requirement, or special need, prior to the commencement of service. Omission of relevant information that results in harm, additional costs, or complications will be the sole legal and financial responsibility of the Client.

7.3 Administration of Oral Medication

C&A Pet House Sitting may administer veterinary-prescribed oral medication subject to the following mandatory conditions:

  • The pet must have an active patient record at a registered veterinary practice.

  • The treating veterinarian must be aware and informed that an external pet sitting service will be present in the home and administering the prescribed medication during the owner's absence. This is consistent with standard veterinary practice in Australia and is the sole responsibility of the Client to arrange and confirm prior to the service.

  • The Client must provide clear written medication instructions, including the name of the medication, prescribed dose, frequency, method of administration, and the treating veterinarian's contact details.

  • All medications must be supplied by the Client, clearly labelled with the pet's name and the prescribing veterinarian's details.

  • Injectable medications, intravenous treatments, wound dressings, or any procedure requiring veterinary or nursing qualifications will not be administered under any circumstances.

  • No medication will be administered without proper written authorisation from the Client and documented veterinary prescription.

C&A Pet House Sitting accepts no liability for adverse reactions to medications that were correctly administered in accordance with the written instructions provided by the Client.

8. PROPERTY ACCESS, HOUSE SITTING AND SURVEILLANCE DEVICES

8.1 Provision of Property Access

For all services requiring the Service Provider's presence at the Client's home, the Client must provide all necessary means of access prior to the commencement of the service, which may include:

  • Physical house key(s)

  • Alarm or security system deactivation code(s)

  • Gate, garage, or building entry codes

  • Detailed entry and exit instructions specific to the property

8.2 Key and Access Code Management

All keys and access codes will be:

  • Used exclusively for the purposes of the agreed service and nothing beyond.

  • Handled with the highest level of confidentiality at all times.

  • Never duplicated, shared, or disclosed to any third party under any circumstances.

  • Returned to the Client upon conclusion of the service, or as otherwise agreed in writing.

  • Permanently and irreversibly deleted from all internal records immediately upon completion of the relevant service.

8.3 Property Care During Service

While present at the Client's property, the Service Provider commits to maintaining the home and its contents with the same care and respect as one's own, in accordance with all instructions provided by the Client, and as further detailed in Section 3.4 of these Terms.

8.4 Client Responsibility for Property Conditions

The Client is responsible for ensuring the property is in a safe and suitable condition for the Service Provider to work in. C&A Pet House Sitting will not be liable for:

  • Pre-existing damages or hazards not declared at the time the service commenced.

  • Damage caused by the pet(s) themselves to the property or its contents.

  • Events of force majeure, including power outages, flooding, fire, storms, or other circumstances outside the Service Provider's reasonable control.

  • Damage or loss caused by third parties unrelated to the service.

The Client is advised to review their home and contents insurance policy to ensure it provides adequate coverage for situations involving a trusted third party present at the property.

8.5 Surveillance Devices and Recording Equipment

8.5.1 Declaration Obligation Prior to the commencement of any service, the Client must declare in writing the existence, location, and operational status of all surveillance devices, cameras, and recording equipment present on or within the property, including but not limited to:

  • External security cameras (front door, driveway, garden, or perimeter)

  • Internal cameras of any type or brand

  • Pet monitoring cameras or animal-facing cameras of any kind

  • Audio recording devices or smart speakers with active recording functions

This declaration is mandatory. Failure to disclose the existence of any recording device is considered a breach of these Terms.

8.5.2 No Interior Recording Devices During Service No cameras, recording devices, or monitoring equipment of any kind are permitted to be active inside the property during the delivery of any service by C&A Pet House Sitting. This includes, without limitation, pet cameras, indoor security cameras, nanny cams, baby monitors with video, and any smart device with active video or audio recording capability directed at interior spaces.

The Client must ensure that all such devices are fully deactivated — including remote viewing functions, cloud recording, and motion-activated features — before the Service Provider's arrival and for the entire duration of the service.

If the Client is uncertain whether a device has been deactivated or has forgotten to do so, they must notify the Service Provider immediately upon remembering, so that the Service Provider may locate and deactivate the device themselves. The Client authorises the Service Provider to deactivate any recording device found to be active inside the property during the service.

8.5.3 Exterior Security Cameras — Accepted Conditions External security cameras and alarm systems positioned on the exterior perimeter of the property are accepted by C&A Pet House Sitting, provided that:

  • They are declared by the Client before the service commences.

  • They do not capture, frame, or record any interior space, internal room, or area inside the property where the Service Provider will be present.

  • They comply with all applicable South Australian laws regarding the privacy of persons on the property.

8.5.4 Legal Basis This requirement is grounded in the Surveillance Devices Act 2016 (SA), under which the installation, use, or maintenance of an optical surveillance device to visually record or observe the carrying on of a private activity — without the express or implied consent of each party involved — constitutes a criminal offence carrying a maximum penalty of $15,000 AUD or imprisonment for 3 years.

By contracting our services, the Client acknowledges and accepts that the Service Provider's presence in their home constitutes a private activity in which the Service Provider holds a legitimate expectation of privacy under South Australian law.

8.5.5 Consequences of Non-Compliance Discovery of any undisclosed or active interior recording device at any point during the service will entitle the Service Provider to:

  • Immediately terminate the service without notice.

  • Retain the full deposit paid as a cancellation and termination fee.

  • Invoice and pursue payment of the full service fee as if the service had been completed.

  • Report the matter to the relevant authorities if the circumstances warrant action under the Surveillance Devices Act 2016 (SA).

9. EMERGENCY VETERINARY PROCEDURES

C&A Pet House Sitting does not retain an in-house or on-call veterinarian. In the event of a medical emergency involving the pet(s) in care, the following protocol will be followed:

Step 1 — The Client will be contacted immediately by all available means of communication. Step 2 — The Client's nominated veterinarian will be contacted. Step 3 — If neither the Client nor their veterinarian can be reached within a timeframe that is safe for the animal, the pet will be transported to the nearest available emergency veterinary clinic. Step 4 — All actions taken will be fully documented and reported to the Client at the earliest opportunity.

By engaging our services, the Client expressly authorises C&A Pet House Sitting to seek urgent veterinary attention on their behalf when contact cannot be established within a safe timeframe.

All veterinary costs of any nature remain the exclusive financial and legal responsibility of the Client.

Prior to commencement of any service, the Client must provide:
