SECURITY POLICY

C&A Pet House Sitting

Location: Adelaide, South Australia, Australia Last Updated: 28/04/202 Version: 1.0

This Security Policy describes the measures C&A Pet House Sitting implements to protect your pets, your property, your personal information, and the integrity of all transactions conducted through our service.

1. OUR COMMITMENT TO SECURITY

At C&A Pet House Sitting, the safety of your pet(s), the security of your home, and the protection of your personal information are our highest priorities. We implement physical, operational, and technical measures to ensure that every aspect of our service is delivered with the highest possible standard of care, professionalism, and accountability.

As a service that operates exclusively within our clients' private homes, we hold ourselves to an elevated standard of trust and responsibility — one that goes beyond what is required of platform-based services.

2. PHYSICAL SECURITY OF PETS

2.1 In-Home Service Model

All services are delivered at the Client's own home, allowing pets to remain in their familiar, safe, and comfortable environment. This eliminates the stress and risks associated with transportation to external facilities or shared boarding environments.

2.2 Supervision Standards

Service

Level of Supervision

Short Visit (30 min)

Active, dedicated supervision for the full duration of the visit

Extended Visit (3–4 hrs)

Active, dedicated supervision throughout the entire visit

Overnight Care

Continuous overnight presence in the home from the agreed start time for the entire contracted period, with up to 5–6 hours of permitted daytime absence unless additional services are booked.

Pets requiring no more than 3 hours alone

Service is structured to fully comply; applicable daytime surcharge applies

2.3 Pet Transportation Safety Protocol

When transportation of a pet is required using the Service Provider's vehicle:

  • Pets will be secured using an approved safety harness or a certified pet travel carrier, appropriate to the animal's size and species.

  • No pet will be transported without current identification (collar tag and/or registered microchip).

  • The vehicle will be maintained at an appropriate temperature and with adequate ventilation at all times.

  • The Client will be informed in advance of any transportation requirement.

2.4 Pet Identification Recommendations

We strongly recommend that all pets in our care have:

  • A registered and up-to-date microchip.

  • A collar with an identification tag displaying the owner's current name and contact number.

2.5 Emergency Medical Response Protocol

In the event of any medical emergency, illness, or injury involving a pet in our care:

Step 1 — Immediate contact to the Client by all available communication channels. Step 2 — Contact to the Client's nominated treating veterinarian. Step 3 — If no response within a timeframe that is safe for the animal, transport to the nearest emergency veterinary clinic. Step 4 — Full written documentation of all actions taken, provided to the Client without delay.

Prior to the commencement of any service, the Client must provide the name, address, and direct contact number of their regular veterinarian, as well as an alternative emergency contact person.

3. SECURITY OF THE CLIENT'S PROPERTY

3.1 Property Access Management Protocol

C&A Pet House Sitting applies the following strict internal protocols for the management of all property access credentials:

  • Physical keys are logged internally against the Client's name and the specific service dates for which they are assigned.

  • Only the sitter(s) directly assigned to the booking will have access to the Client's keys or entry codes.

  • Keys are never duplicated under any circumstances.

  • Alarm codes and entry codes are treated as strictly confidential information and are not shared with any person outside of the immediate service delivery.

  • All access codes are permanently deleted from all internal records immediately upon completion of the service.

3.2 Property Security During Service

The Service Provider commits to maintaining the security of the Client's property throughout the entire duration of the service, including:

  • Locking all doors and windows whenever temporarily vacating the property for pet-related activities or agreed tasks.

  • Activating the property's security alarm system in full accordance with the Client's instructions.

  • Never granting access to the property to any person not expressly authorised in writing by the Client.

  • Reporting any suspicious, unusual, or concerning external activity to the Client promptly.

3.3 Confidentiality of Property and Home Environment

All information observed or accessed during the course of the service — including property layout, security systems, household routines, belongings, and personal documents — is treated as strictly confidential.

The interior of the Client's home, personal belongings, documents, or any identifying property details will never be photographed, filmed, described, or shared with any third party for any reason.

3.4 Surveillance Devices and Recording Equipment

Our position is clear and non-negotiable:

No cameras, surveillance devices, or recording equipment of any kind are permitted to be active inside the Client's property during the delivery of any service by C&A Pet House Sitting. This includes, without limitation, pet cameras, indoor security cameras, nanny cams, and any smart device with active video or audio recording capability directed at interior spaces.

Prior to the Service Provider's arrival, the Client must:

  • Declare in writing the existence and location of all recording devices present anywhere on the property, both inside and outside.

  • Ensure that all interior cameras and recording devices are fully deactivated, including remote viewing, cloud recording, and motion-triggered functions, for the entire duration of the service.

If the Client forgets to deactivate any device, they must notify the Service Provider immediately so that the device may be located and deactivated. The Client expressly authorises the Service Provider to deactivate any recording device found to be active inside the property during the service.

Exterior security cameras and alarm systems positioned on the outside perimeter of the property are accepted, provided they:

  • Are declared before the service commences.

  • Do not capture, frame, or record any interior space or area inside the home.

  • Comply with all applicable South Australian privacy and surveillance legislation.

The discovery of any undisclosed or active interior recording device during service delivery constitutes immediate grounds for termination of the service, retention of the full deposit, and potential reporting to relevant authorities under the Surveillance Devices Act 2016 (SA).

4. SITTER CREDIBILITY AND BACKGROUND VERIFICATION

4.1 National Police Check

All personnel from C&A Pet House Sitting who provide in-home services at Client properties hold a current National Police Check, ensuring a trustworthy and accountable service at all times.

4.2 Meet & Greet as a Security and Trust Measure

The mandatory Meet & Greet prior to all bookings serves a fundamental dual security purpose:

  • It allows the Client to verify the identity and professionalism of the Service Provider in person before granting access to their home and pet(s).

  • It allows the Service Provider to assess the pet(s) and property environment to ensure the service can be delivered safely and to the required standard.

  • Notifying you directly within a maximum of 72 hours of detection.

  • Reporting the incident to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

  • Taking immediate corrective action to contain and mitigate any impact.
